| The Beam Trawl. A short clip from an Open Learning training
course for fishermen, courtesy of "The

| The Otter Trawl. Another short clip from an Open Learning
training course for fishermen, courtesy of "The
Seafish Industry Authority". Otter Trawling takes it's name from the
boards which spread the net instead of the beam. There are a multitude
of ways of increasing the height and width of the fishing area, but they
are all based on this simple example. By far the most popular fishing
method in the UK, it takes considerable skill to make it work
efficiently as it works by using water pressure (hydro-dynamics) to keep
it open and fishing. |
